Following the Covid-19-induced disruption to the US Navy (USN) shipbuilding industry - causing yards to stagger shifts and take other production-interrupting measures to protect the workforce - the USN has worked to accelerate new construction contracts to create a future backlog and keep money flowing to prime-contractor suppliers. The USN also has sought to further strengthen the supplier base by bolstering programmes such as the Naval Agility (NavalX) Tech Bridge, which is designed to enhance collaboration on naval projects and help support economic opportunities to increase the industrial base's ability to solve naval challenges.
