French President Emmanuel Macron will decide on a future aircraft carrier "in the coming months", French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly has said. She told the newspaper Ouest France in an interview published on 18 May that studies are under way on the future carrier. "If we want an aircraft carrier at sea in 2038, it is now that we need to deal with it, and without delay," she said. "We are working on studies and are examining different options for the propulsion, size, [and] catapult system. My job is to keep the President of the Republic informed of the situation to take a decision in the coming months," she said.
