A shipment of military equipment ordered by Botswana has been seen at the Namibian port of Walvis Bay. Mobile telephone footage and photographs released via social media on 17 May showed infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) that were wrapped in protective plastic on transporters at a port that was said to be Cape Town but could be identified as Walvis Bay. A launcher for the MBDA VL MICA air-defence system mounted on a MAN truck and a Mistral Albi air-defence system mounted on a VBL light armoured vehicle were also pictured, along with a Mistral Coordination Post, which includes a radar, on a Unimog truck and another MAN that probably carried the VL MICA command post. The radar for the VL MICA system, which is normally the Hensoldt TRML-3D, was not seen.
