Indian firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said on 18 May that it has amalgamated with its shipyard subsidiary, L&T Shipbuilding Limited (LTSB). The amalgamation gives L&T full ownership of the facility, including its defence shipbuilding capacity. L&T announced its intention to acquire full ownership of the LTSB subsidiary in April 2019. The acquisition featured its purchase of a 3% stake in the shipyard from the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO): an agency under the Tamil Nadu state government. The value of the deal was not disclosed. LTSB, the assets of which include a shipyard and other facilities in Kat-tupalli, was established in 2007 and undertakes naval and commercial shipbuilding and repairs.
