The Marina Militare Italiana (Italian Navy, MMI) tweeted on 22 May that its second Pattuglia-tore Polivalente d'Altura (PPA) offshore patrol vessel (OPV), Francesco Morosini, was launched at Fincantieri's Riva Trigoso shipyard earlier the same day. The ceremony was held behind closed doors due to Covid-19, but MMI chief of staff Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone was present. Morosini was expected to be launched at the end of March but Fincantieri postponed the event because of the pandemic as it had stopped production at all its shipyards from 16 March to 20 April, after which the company started to gradually reopen.
