The United States has blacklisted 33 Chinese technology entities for alleged links to "military activities" and human rights violations. The US Department of Commerce said on 22 May that the entities - including private-sector firms and research institutes - would be included on the Bureau of Industry and Security's (BIS's) 'entity list'. According to the department, the entities' inclusion on the list prohibits their involvement in the export, re-export, or in-country transfers of US dual-use technologies without Department of Commerce authorisation.
