Ireland's Department of Defence published the Equipment Devel-opment Plan (EDP) 2020-24 for its defence forces on 26 June. Some EUR358 million (more than USD400 million) was made available for defence investment in 2020-22. The main defence invest-ments for the Irish Army are the mid-life upgrade of its 80 Piranha Ⅲ armoured person-nel carriers, to be completed by manufacturer General Dynam-ics European Land Systems in 2022, along with the acquisition of 120 Scania 4×4 troop-carrying vehicles by 2023 and 280 Toyota Landcruiser light utility vehicles to enter service by 2022.
