The US Army has launched its first Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) soldier operational experiment at Fort Carson, Colorado, this month after delaying the assessment in March-April owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Colonel Warren Sponsler, chief of staff for the army's Next Generation Combat Vehicle Cross Functional Team, recently told Janes about plans to begin a multiweek RCV experiment on 7 July. During the platoon-sized exercise the army will use two manned Bradley-based control vehicles to manoeuvre four RCV surrogates that are based on the M113 armoured personnel carrier chassis.
