The mock-up aircraft carrier that Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) used as a target in a recent exercise has partially sunk outside the entrance to Bandar Abbas harbour, Airbus Defence and Space satellite imagery shows. The carrier-shaped barge was first used for Exercise 'Great Prophet 9' in February 2015, after which it was towed to the IRGC naval base at Bandar Abbas. It underwent repairs from late 2019 and was used again for 'Great Prophet 14', held on 28-29 July. Satellite imagery shows the target was moored 20 km east of Larak island for the exercise, then sank 1.2 km from the harbour entrance at Bandar Abbas, presumably as the IRGC attempted to tow it back to base. It was in the same position on 31 July and 2 August, indicating it would not sink further as it still has buoyancy on its starboard side.
