The Pentagon has awarded Lockheed Martin USD62 billion to cover all expected production of the F-16 Fighting Falcon combat aircraft for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers over the next decade. The award, announced on 14 August, is an indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract. As noted by the Pentagon, the initial order underthe ID/IQ award covers 90 aircraft and is valued at USD4.9 billion. Work on this initial delivery will run until 31 December 2026. The F-16 has been sold to FMS customers globally, with about 3,500 delivered. FMS customers to date have comprised Bahrain, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Egypt, Greece, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, South Korea, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, and Venezuela. Some of these have over time offloaded all or part of theirfleets to third parties.
