The Sudanese Naval Forces have received a training ship from Russia, the Sudanese military announced on 11 October. It said a ceremony was held at Port Sudan naval base where the Russian flag on the ship was lowered and the Sudanese flag was raised. "The step comes within the framework of the advanced military co-operation between Khartoum and Moscow," it said. It released photographs that showed just enough of the ship to identify it as a Petrushka-class training ship.
