The Israeli government will not oppose the US sale of "certain weapons systems" to the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Benny Gantz said in a joint statement released on 23 October. The statement did not identify the weapon systems, but Anwar Gargash, the United Arab Emirates' chief diplomat, has said his country expects the United States to approve the sale of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters now it has normalised relations with Israel.
