The US Department of State has approved the sate of 168 Raytheon RIM-116C Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Block 2 naval surface-to-air missiles to Egypt for an estimated USD197 million, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 16 February. It said the missiles will be used by the Egyptian Navy's Ambassador Ⅳ fast attack craft, which already have RAM Block 1As. The RAM is primarily designed to intercept anti-ship missiles by homing in on their radar emissions. The Block 2 has a longer range, more manoeuvrability, and improved passive radar and infrared seekers. The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have received three more Huey Ⅱ helicopters donated by the United States, it was announced on 13 February. The LAF released photographs showing the helicopters being unloaded from an An-124 transport aircraft at Beirut International Airport. The US Embassy in Beirut said the handover happened in late January and that the helicopters are worth more than USD32 million. The LAF has now received 15 Huey Ms, which are refurbished and upgraded Bell UH-1 utility helicopters, since 2012.
