One of the three catamarans that are being built for Iran's naval forces has been launched at a yard on Qeshm island, Maxar satellite imagery taken on 24 July shows. The vessel is about 70 m long and now has markings showing it has a helicopter flight deck. A second catamaran of the same class that is under construction west of Bandar Abbas was still on land on 24 July and did not have its flight deck markings, while a third was still partially under a shed in Bushehr on 15 July. A photograph of the catamaran at Qeshm emerged in April showing what could be anti-ship missile launchers integrated either side of its bridge. The yard where it is being built is close to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' (IRGC's) naval base on the island and was expanded to build the ship. Iranian sources have referred to the vessels as the Martyr Soleimani-class missile corvettes, although this could be speculation based on the IRGC's recent trend of naming new equipment after its former head of external operations, Major General Qasem Soleimani.
