On 5 November, international media reported that 79 students had been kidnapped from the Presbyterian Secondary School Nkwen in Bamenda, northwestern Cameroon. According to media reports, the principal of the school had also been kidnapped, along with several staff members; although the principal was subsequently released, the kidnappers warned him not to return to the school. The students and other members of staff who had been held captive were released a few days after their kidnapping, seemingly unharmed.
