UAE-based ADCOM Systems and Finmeccanica's Whitehead Sistemi Subacquei (WASS) unveiled an antisubmarine warfare (ASW) variant of the United-40 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the NAVDEX maritime portion of IDEX. The aircraft stems from a joint letter of intent the companies signed at the Dubai Airshow in 2013. Since then, they have been working to mature the United-40 Block 6 concept, which was displayed at NAVDEX, ahead of a torpedo release demonstration - using a 244 lightweight torpedo (LWT) either in a Mod 1 or Mod 3 configuration - for the UAE Navy by the end of 2015.
