The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) has revealed details of the key role played by the air defence and command frigate (Luchtverde-digings- en commandofregat - LCF) HNLMS De Zeven Provincieen in two live fire events undertaken during the Maritime Theatre Missile Defence Forum's At Sea Demon-stration2015(ASD15). In the first scenario, a track provided by De Zeven Provincieen was used to cue a Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) interceptor firing from a US Navy DDG 51 guided-missile destroyer. In the second, De Zeven Provincieen demonstrated the ability of its combat system to detect and track a ballistic missile, and provide a track cue via link, while simultaneously engaging two anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) threats.
