Three GPS-guided Precision Extended Range Munition (PERM) projectiles flew to the required range and hit within the required distance of their targets during a trial conducted at the Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, Raytheon announced on 2 December. A fourth was fired to the minimum range requirement and impacted just a few metres from an off-axis target. The four met all test objectives, and demonstrated the munitions' guidance, navigation, and control functions. These firings were made from the US Marine Corps (USMC) M327 120 mm rifled towed mortar. A version of the French TDA MO-120-RT 120 mm towed mortar, this forms part of the USMC Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS) - an all-weather close support indirect fire system.
