MBDA unveiled a concept weapon system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the Farnborough Airshow. The system is dubbed CVS301 Vigilus and consists of the Armatus launcher and communications unit; two munitions - Caelus, described as a Scout missile that can be fitted with a warhead or sensors, and Gladius, a low collateral-damage, lightweight missile; and a control unit for ground forces. The intention is for the system to provide an on-demand ISTAR and strike capability.
