US military researchers have com-pleted an effort to develop 3-D im- aging displays for commanders and mission planners in urban areas. In late March, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that it had completed its Urban Photonic Sandtable Display (UPSD) programme that is intended to create "a real-time, colour, 360-degree 3-D holographic display to assist battle planners".
