China is reported to be developing a new type of conventional missile that is expected to enter service within five years, writes Doug Richardson. On 18 February, the Global Times newspaper (which is associated with the official Chinese Communist Party newspaper, the People's Daily), quoted a military source close to the programme as saying that the missile will have a range of up to 4,000 km.
