The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet will be the numerically predominant aircraft in the service's carrier air wing strike fighter force through to at least 2035, a significant run for a combat jet that started full-rate production in 2000. To date, Boeing has delivered 570 of 584 aircraft initially planned and, at the end of 2016, the USN reported 287 F/A-18E models and 259 F/A-18F models in its inventory.
