Canadian officials have announced that the government will press on with an interim auxiliary oiler replenishment (AOR) vessel project that was approved by the previous administration to help close a gap in supporting Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) warships. The interim AOR effort undertaken by Canada's former government had been under review by the new Liberal administration that took office after winning the October 2015 general election. Officials concluded the review on 30 November by announcing the government would uphold the contract with Project Resolve Inc to convert a commercial container ship, MV Asterix, into an AOR.
