摘要

More industry experts are being sent to state-owned shipyard ASC in a bid to rectify Australia's troubled Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) programme, said a joint announcement on 9 December by Finance Minister Mathias Cormann and Defence Minister David Johnston. The long-awaited announcement, which was reportedly delayed by infighting among industry participants, said BAE Systems, Navantia SA, and Raytheon Australia would assume increased roles in the AWD programme for an interim period. No decisions have yet been made about long-term arrangements, but the increased involvement of the three companies "will drive immediate improvements in shipbuilding performance", the announcement noted.
