Norway will pursue plans to acquire new submarines, after rejecting options to extend the life of its current Ula-class boats. Announcing the decision on 3 December, the defence ministry said the submarine project would now enter a definition phase to evaluate new boat procurement options, including the possibility of international co-operation. Current plans call for a to-be-determined number of boats to enter service from the mid-2020s.
