Raytheon Missile Systems has secured its largest direct export sale for the Phalanx 20 mm close-in weapon system (CIWS) after clinching a deal to supply nine Phalanx Block 1B systems for the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN). Valued at USD 123 million, the Direct Commercial Sale contract covers the delivery of Phalanx Block IB systems for installation on FFX Batch Ⅱ Ulsan-class frigates and AOE Il-class fast combat support ships. Deliveries will begin in 2016 and are scheduled to be completed in 2022.
