US Navy (USN) officials are reviewing the results of a four-month long effort by a task force convened to seek options for a successor programme to the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), the navy confirmed on 31 July. The Small Surface Combatant Task Force (SSCTF) has turned in its preliminary findings for a vessel meant to encompass the capabilities of a frigate. The results are being briefed to the USN's leadership, which is then expected to consider and analyse the data.
