The project to concentrate the Royal Navy's (RN's) amphibious capability will take a major step forward when the new Royal Marines Tamar (RM Tamar) facility officially opens in August. Originally known as the Devon-port Landing Craft Co-location Project (DLCCP), this GBP30.2 million (USD46.8 million) project fits the operational and training elements of the RN's landing craft force together with the major amphibious ship home base. This offers clear benefits for maintenance, training, and operational effectiveness.
