The Myanmar Navy is to receive two Jianghu II-class (Project 053H1) frigates declared surplus to requirement by China's naval command. The impending transfer of the 1,960-ton ships from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) was confirmed recently by photographs published on Chinese websites. The frigates have been repainted at a PLAN base, believed to be Huangpu, and given the pennant numbers F21 and F23. Myanmar Navy personnel have been seen onboard the ships, suggesting that delivery might be imminent.
