Poland's troubled Gawron corvette programme (Project 621) has been cancelled by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, more than 10 years after the still-incomplete hull of the lead ship was laid down. About PLN402 million (USD 130 million) has been spent on first-of-class Slazak since construction began in October 2001 and a further PLN1 billion would have been required to complete outfitting, according to local media reports. Recurring costs would have amounted to PLN30 million annually.
