The first Holland-class patrol ship built in Romania for the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) has been delivered by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding to the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD). Friesland (P 842) was scheduled to begin a comprehensive systems testing and work-up programme following its transfer in Harlingen on 11 April to the MoD's Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO). Built at Damen's Galati yard on the River Danube, the 108 m-long vessel is still without its Oto Melara 76 mm and 30 mm guns and I-Mast 400 integrated mast module. The mast - developed by Thales Nederland, the DMO and the naval dockyard - will be installed early in 2014.
