Germany has agreed terms for the sale of a sixth Dolphin-class (Type 800) submarine - and the third with a fuel-cell air-independent propulsion (AIP) system - to Israel. An Israeli defence official told Jane's on 5 May that while the terms of the procurement have been finalised, a contract had not yet been signed. However, he would not comment on whether Germany had offered to discount the cost of the submarine - likely to be around USD700 million - as it has in previous sales to Israel.
