The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) is to establish a joint programme office in March in an attempt to resolve availability problems with the country's six Collins-class submarines.rnAnnounced on 12 February, the Australian Submarine Program Office will create a partnership between the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) and state-owned shipbuilder ASC.rnGreg Combet, the minister for defence personnel, materiel and science, said that the office "is a vital step towards achieving the submarine output that government expects".
