The RAS stations on a typical fleet replenishment tanker may be dedicated for solids or liquids only or they may be dual stations capable of transferring both types of stores, although not simultaneously.rnSolid RAS stations can transfer loads of up to 2 tons between vessels in conditions up to Sea State 6 and at separation distances of 24 m to 61 m. The abeam stations rely on a tension wire or jackstay connecting the two vessels and the solid payload is transferred along the wire using inhaul and outhaul ropes.
