In August this year the warm waters of the South China Sea provided the arena for 'Pacific Reach 2010', a multinational exercise designed to develop regional submarine escape and rescue capabilities while strengthening interoperability in rescue operations among participating navies.rnHosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), the event also saw active participation from the navies of Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States, with observers from Canada, China, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand, the UK andVietnam.
