James Fisher Defence (JFD) formally assumed ownership of the assets of the former UK Submarine Rescue Service (UKSRS) at the end of November 2008, following its decommissioning from UK service. UKSRS comprised the rescue submersible LR5, the Scorpio 45 IROV, associated launch and recovery systems, a deck reception chamber, three one-person decompression chambers, and workshop, electrical, mechanical and support containers. JFD re-branded these assets as the James Fisher Submarine Rescue Service (JFSRS) on the international market under a contractor-owned, contractor-operated service arrangement.
