Captain Aleksandrs Pavlovics has been dismissed as commander of the Latvian Naval Force following problems over the acquisition of five Imanta-class (Alkmaar/Tripartite) minehunters from the Netherlands.rnHis removal from post was announced by Defence Minister Imants Liegis on 8 September. Captain Rimant Strimaitis, formerly the country's naval representative to NATO, has been named acting commander of the navy.
