Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace is to pump more than INR1 billion (USD25.3 million) into Kerala Hitech Industries (Keltec) after acquiring it for a nominal sum.rnBrahmos is developing cruise missiles for the Indian Navy (IN) and other armed services, while state-run Keltec designs and manufactures critical components for the programme.rnIndia's Defence Research and Development Organisation, co-developer of the missile systems, is planning to invest a further INR250 million in Keltec.rnConfigured on Russia's 3M55 Oniks/ Yakhont system, the two-stage, 8.4 m-long BrahMos missile weighs 3.9 tons, uses liquid ramjet technology and carries a 250 kg to 300 kg warhead at a speed of Mach 2.8 to a maximum given strike-range of 292 km.
