The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has released GPB300 million (USD532 million) for detailed design-and-production engineering activities for the Royal Navy's Future Aircraft Carrier (CVF) after the GBP3.5 billion programme passed through the first of two hurdles in its Main Gate approvals process. At the same time, the MoD has announced agreement on the roles and responsibilities within the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (ACA) charged with building the two ships, confirmed the addition of VT Group and Babcock to the ACA, and rubber-stamped the shipbuilding strategy for the programme.
