摘要

At the 2018 iteration of the Kaohsiung International Maritime and Defence Exhibition in Taiwan, officials from the Republic of China Navy (RoCN) confirmed with Jane's that the Taiwanese Ministry of Defence has placed an order for the country's first landing platform dock (LPD) vessel. It will be the first in a projected class of four ships that will fulfil the service's amphibious assault requirements. The acquisition is notable not only because the LPD will be Taiwan's largest-ever warship in terms of displacement, but also because it hints at a subtle shift in the service's long-standing defence doctrines.
