Logistics support to US Navy (USN) carrier strike groups (CSGs) has for more than three decades relied upon the Grumman C-2A(R) Greyhound - a gutsy turboprop cargo aircraft based on a design that first flew in the 1960s - for carrier onboard delivery (COD). This is a critical role for the USN, with the C-2A(R) being employed to transport people and cargo from a forward logistics site (FLS) to a CSG at sea; each FLS typically has two Greyhounds assigned to conduct operations to and from the carrier.
