摘要

We have successfully fabricated a glass thin film in the BaO-TiO_2-GeO_2 system and a fresnoite-type Ba_2TiGe_2O_8 (BTG) crystalline thin film with second-order optical nonlinearity for the first time. An as-deposited glass thin film showing good transparency and homogeneity could be formed on a fused silica substrate by RF sputtering with a 30BaO-15TiO_2-55GeO_2 glass target. Subsequently, a transparent BTG-crystallized thin film could be obtained using proper heat-treatment conditions. Furthermore, a clear second-harmonic generation has been observed by the Maker fringe technique in the transparent BTG-crystallized thin films obtained by heat treatment at 730-750℃ for 3h.
