JR Central announced in April 2012 that they strengthen the function of the "earthquake disaster prevention system" which has been managed on the Tokaido Shinkansen. Based on the lessons got through the past technology development and the East Japan great earthquake disaster, they have realized the shortening of time until train stop when a directly underneath earthquake occur and the train stop when predicted the outbreak of a consolidated type earthquake. In addition to the increase of the spare battery of various seismometers also, they stop trains more speedy and more surely when an earthquake occurred, thus safety raising father. The total cost of this measure is approximately 360 million yen. It starts in use at the point where the construction finishes sequentially, and all constructions are going to end by July FY2013.
