When considering the implementation of any significant organizational change, financial and logistical concerns often takernprecedence. However, as this case of conversion to a latex-safe environment demonstrates, organizational leadership and developing the organization's readiness for change in organizational culture are also critical. In addition, the explicit support of leadership is an essential component of change and will continue to be so as learning and change become a way of life in health care organizations.
