摘要

Re-usable launch vehicle technology with fast turnaround time and low cost access to space is the Holy Grail for future Space Transportation System. Worldwide, efforts are on both in the public as well as private sector to reduce the cost of access to space and re-usability is one of the major candidates to give more than one order cost advantage than the present expendable launch vehicles. The ultimate dream of any rocket scientist is a single stage to orbit (SSTO) re-usable launch vehicle. However, many technological breakthroughs are required in material science, composite technology, structural design as well as propulsion system to realise that dream. A two stage to orbit launch (TSTO) vehicle looks to be a feasible solution in near term if focussed development efforts are sustained.
