摘要

The small gas turbines industry has witnessed a big leap in technology over the past two decades. This period was mainly characterized by a rapid development of advanced three-dimensional tools assisted by a yearly doubling of computer capacity. Validated design tools were integrated into the design system throughout the whole engine. Concurrent engineering combined with integrated product teams and a substantial reduction in testing has resulted in a reduction, of an engine design and development time, from five to three years. Further reduction to two years is possible with emphasis on technology readiness both in engineering and manufacturing. Technology strategy for the next millennium will focus on cost reduction breakthroughs, and rapid technology deployment into engines. Environmental issues such as noise and emissions reduction and elimination of hazardous waste will take more importance, particularly with more stringent regulations. This paper addresses Green engine technology developments in modern gas turbine engines.
