The "Miracle on the Hudson" was responsible for bringing to light the issue of bird strikes and their implications on the civil aviation industry. Were it not for this incident, the FAA more than likely would not have released the data concerning nearly the last two decades of bird strike activity.221 Now that the data is available and the country is aware that the problem is much larger than was once thought, there are questions surrounding what efforts should be taken to improve the situation and to ensure that it does not worsen.
