摘要

The solution of the problem of scattering of waves by a metallic cylinder using boundary integral equations is considered. It is shown that via using both Helmholtz formulation and layer potentials, one may deal with the Dirichlet and the Neumann problems in one program using Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. A joint-field method is proposed to check the results and to deal with the nonuniqueness problem. It is also shown that the problem may be handled if accurate estimates of the solution are known at few points on the surface.
