A Dual Graph-Norm Refinement Indicator for Finite Volume Approximations of the Euler equations

摘要

A refinement indicator for the adaptive computation of compressible inviscid flow fields with a sound mathematical footage is presented. The indicator is the dual graph-norm of the residual and was developed by Mackenzie, Sueli and Warnecke for Friedrichs systems. Using the entropy variables to symmetrise the Euler equations and a local linearisation techniqu the equations of gas dynamics are written in the form of a Friedrichs system. The theory of dual graph-norm error indicators can then be applied to the DLR-τ-Code which is a finite volume box scheme on conforming triangulations. Numerical results show the ability of the dual graph-norm to detect flow phenomena.
