The paper investigates the general dynamic behaviour of a vehicle moving over a periodically supported track and gives advice on parts of the vehicle-track system to be considered for specific problems. Three different vehicle-track models have been considered using a generalization of Jezequel's solution. The first model is a single wheelset moving over a track at constant speed, the second considers the influence of a second wheelset and the third also considers the masses of a bogie and the car body.
